Web Developer/Software Engineer

Working on behalf of one of our client's we seek a new team member to join the existing development team.

Our developers are involved in all aspects of product development, including consulting on UI/UX; planning information architecture and implementing quality code.  Projects include extension and rebuild of our flagship software as well as the implementation of related products that interface with the core through a variety of APIs.

We are looking for dedicated, full-time techies who live and breathe code and will thrive in a young, down-to-earth office environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working on medium to large-scale projects with overlapping components and pre-existing code-bases. Prospective hires will be used to AGILE and SCRUM methodologies and working with online tools to make collaboration between international developers seamless and product development simple. Our team take The Joel Test very seriously so we hope you do too. We've experienced a lot of recent growth, and this is a great opportunity for anyone who prefers creative latitude and hands-on work over working on subatomic parts of large projects.


Technical skills required:

  • PHP (best practices OOP / experience with CodeIgniter a plus)
  • JavaScript (barebones + jQuery)
  • MySQL (barebones ideal, ORM experience helpful)
  • HTML/CSS

Helpful but not essential:

  • Objective-C (iOS or Mac OSX)
  • Python
  •  Shell scripting
  • Experience with git or other source control systems
  • Knowledge and understanding of agile methodologies

Creative Middleweight Web & Branding Designer/Graphic Designer

A full-service, London-based graphic design agency that's passionate about producing high-quality creative work, with a broad range of clients across a diverse industry-base, seeks an outstanding creative web / branding / graphic designer.

You’ll be working in a busy creative studio, designing websites, various printed materials, corporate identities, concepts for ad campaigns  and working on pitches. You'll need a good amount of experience working on digital and print projects, have an impressive portfolio with clean, eye-catching and targeted designs, user-friendly and attractive websites and accurate artwork. You will also need to be abreast of new media trends, have excellent communication skills, as well as an obvious hunger to be a great designer.

Reporting to the Creative Director, you will:

  • Liaise with project managers and the creative director on the requirements of the job
  • Attend meetings with the client, both on and off the premises
  • Create appropriate and impressive creative concepts to use in a variety of media (online, print, outdoor, etc)
  • Ensure projects are running on time and delivering against the brief
  • Create page mock-ups as needed
  • Prepare design projects for final implementation
  • Work cohesively with other designers, developers and project managers

For this role we invite applications from experienced Web/Graphic Designers. The minimum requirement to be considered for this position will include:

  • Solid Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign/Fireworks CS3/4
  • Min of 4 years in the design industry or a creative studio
  • An understanding of designing for CSS, HTML and Javascript
  • Accomplished art-working skills
  • An eye for detail and visual hierarchy
  • An appreciation of IA and optimal UX/navigation design
  • Demonstration of Illustrative skills or scamping
  • Client facing with strong presenting skills and an outgoing and communicative personality
  • Excellent with typography

Additional highly desirable attributes/skills

  • Experience or knowledge of Adobe AfterEffects, Dreamweaver or Flash
  • Apple Mac IT troubleshooting and networking
  • Forward thinker and open to learning new softwares and practices

You will be working in a very busy creative studio, supporting the team on the build of websites, various printed materials, corporate identities and working on pitches. The role will involve managing multiple projects through to completion as well as assisting the team on all aspects of day to day agency life. There is a lot of information on the Internet but we aim to keep you up to date with the most important facts, events, people and campaigning bodies, and build a Saveit4aSong community where people who care about life on Earth, can discuss and share their thoughts and ideas.

Length of placement: 4 weeks
Location: Hammersmith/West London
 
Experience gained: The student / graduate could gain experience of getting involved in writing blog posts, tweeting and making contact with music industry insiders. The candidate will also have the opportunity help think of and execute ingenious ways to reach new audiences.
